This is a doll made by Bing Art Dolls of Nuremberg, Germany. It looks very similar to a Kathe Kruse doll and Bing were taken to court by Kathe Kruse in 1925 for copying her dolls. It has a beautifully hand painted cloth face with side glancing eyes, all of the facial paint is the original. The ears are nicely moulded, there are 3 seams at the back of the head. It is possible that there has been some touching up of the paintwork on the hair, but it could be all original. The head is in good condition with just a pin price on the right cheek. He measures just under 18 inches (45 cms). The body although age grubby is in good solid condition, the blue colour on his legs has, I think, come off his trousers. He has mitten hands and they are good with just a tiny tear on his left thumb. His feet are good with just a couple of very minor tears. There is a lot of stitching around his neck which I have shown in close-up. The legs are jointed and he has wide hips. There is a blue stamp under his right foot but I cannot read what it says. He is wearing a hand knitted jumper, blue trousers and a lovely old cream cotton vintage jacket with metal buttons. His home made shoes are blue velvet and his socks are striped cotton.
