This figurine is a work of art - it was made by Luigi Fabris and is entitled "gupetto ti he fi con pizzo" or "peekabo." Fabris is an Italian artist who makes figurines similar to the dresden lace - this piece has layer after layer of gorgeous delicate lace and very finely painted facial features. The woman's bodice is handpainted with a gold floral pattern. The beau is covering up the lady's eyes to surprise her. It is a charming and rare piece and comes with an appraisal certificate that states the value of $6,500 (of course - I do not believe for a minute it is worth this, but it is neat to have the certificate. This figurine came from a large collection of Fabris owned by Bonnie Coutant of Oak Ridge, Tennessee). The figurine measures 6 1/2" high by 6 1/2" wide. It is in excellent condition - I can only find one tiny fleabite on the entire piece. You won't be dissapointed with this one. Also, I know how to pack these delicate pieces very well so do not worry - it will arrive safely. Shipping and insurance will be at actual cost. I accept paypal, money orders or checks.
