This stereoview is one of a group of eight associated views by an unidentified photographer and the first 4 are titled (handwritten in pencil on verso). View #1 mentions Bird Street and view #2 mentions Dearborn street. These streets, together with the fact that t is an ad for “Napoleon Bitters” on the fence in view #2 place these views in Buffalo mostly between the canal and the Niagara River. The large factory is possibly the Buffalo Smelting Works. Untitled view of the very large Factory along the river with a Sailing Vessel & Tug Along Side in the Niagara River. Thanks to Walter Lewis and his Maritime History of the Great Lakes website http://www.hhpl.on.ca/greatlakes/ for some insight into the location for these views. Please note that our scanner does not like curved mount views very well. Any lightness or reddish color effects at the bottom of the view are complements of the scanner.
