Heer for The Ohio State Archeological and Historical Society, this is a beautifully detailed, 97-year-old map of Fairfield County Ohio showing all known Indian earthworks and other sites. It measures about 13 1/2 by 16 inches overall (about 34 by 41 cm.), with margins of roughly one inch on all four sides. This map is very detailed showing topographical features (rivers, lakes, creeks, etc.), townships, cities and villages, routes of old railroads, and early roads and highways. Most importantly, the locations of all known Indian mounds, earthworks and other sites are shown in red. These include 112 mounds, 14 enclosures, 8 village sites, 7 burial sites and 2 flint quarries. Scale is three miles to the inch. This authentic 1914 map was printed in a limited edition of 500. This is a guaranteed genuine vintage map! It was printed on a single sheet of stock with no folds, creases, marks or stains. Condition is Very Good to Fine.
