The book is undated but was published in the early part of the 1900's. There are 400 pages plus some advertising at the back for Golding's other storybooks. This is a very charming book. Fairytales can be dreadful depending on how they're written, but Harry Golding has done a fine job of rewriting the classic fairytales so they're more appropriate for children. Margaret Tarrant's illustrations are sweet and special, as always. There are 48 color illustrations in this book: so it is lavishly illustrated. All the inside illustrations are there. The book is missing an illustration on the front cover, which would have been a duplicate of one of the interior illustrations. One of the endpapers is missing at the front of the book. There is some foxing on the pages, and some spots - which is worse on the first few pages but otherwise the interior of the book looks pretty good except for a few spots here and there. Starting at page 301 there are three pages which have the whole side of the paper torn off… however there is no text missing other than the page numbers, AND I think this appears to be a manufacturing flaw possibly.
