A beautiful Alton Ware centerpiece. Formed in the style of a classical urn, complete with ornate handles. In famille noire colours, with chinoiserie images of a geisha and a small girl, surrounded by grass, foliage, and lanterns; all on a matt black background. Pale blue around the inside of the rim. Ingood condition, some wear to the gold on the rim. It looks like the gold on the handles has worn away too, but upon close inspection, they are symmetrical; so I image it's supposed to look like that. A small ding to the base at the back (image 2), and a repair on the same side; which can be seen as a small white arc on the right hand side. More images can be provided on request. Measures 8.5" tall by 10" in diameter Stamped 'Made in England' on the base, but I am suggest it is Alton Ware as this is identical in style to two large vases that sit on the mantlepiece in my bedroom, which are marked 'Alton Ware' and date to 1910.
