This is a scarce and uniquely styled Self Pronouncing Victorian Family Holy Bible, with exte nsi ve color and Dore plates, illustrations and the Garwood family records , being published circa 1890 !Fully adorned gilt and uniquely designed Full-Leather embossed covers, in great external shape with light wear (some minor scars and scuffs), boards both cleanly detached, with the spine also lightly scuffed with a small tear, some rubbing and edge separation, but overall pretty well kept compared to most examples we deal with. TONS of Illustrations both in text and plates, some golden, many in color, a good amount of them being from the amazing Biblical artist Gustave DORE, with all pages quite clean and lightly browned. In the front, the first couple pages are loose, but the rest are firm and like new in the binding. Page edges also still carry shining gilt. The pages are all present, and the Bible is complete. Family records are present for the Garwood family; including 2 great tintypes/CDVs in the rear photo holders, and a large marriage certificate for Ida Rozarth and Charles Garwood in 1888, Medford NJ. Great provenance and potential for restoration. Dimensions 11" wide, 13" tall, 4" thick. Provenance: Charles A.
