Being offered is a nice old antique Bugis Keris kris sword or dagger. This example measures 16 1/2" in total length when measured in its scabbard from top of handle to bottom of the scabbard. The scabbard is fat or wide. The mouth of the scabbard is 6 7/8" wide. The top of the scabbard and the stem have been painted on both sides. The paint is faded but still quite visible on the front and less faded, a bit more sharper, on the reverse side. There are a couple of dings to the wood of the scabbard with one chip with very minor loss to one side of the stem. The handle is wood and nicely carved. There is one age crack, not separated, on the reverse side of the handle. Nice brass mendak. It is loose. Nice stout strong blade with strong beveled edges and a raised center panel which features a lovely pamor pattern. There is some scratches here and there along the cutting edge. All in all, a very nice Bugis Keris and possibly a Chiefton example. Please e-mail with any questions. for a great variety of swords, daggers and tribal art.
