FANTASTIC FOUR The THING Marvel Comics 1st Day Cover Fantastic Four Thing Stamps.... On J uly 26, 2007, the USPS issued a set of twenty action-packed stamps commemorating Marvel Comics Super Heroes with ten stamps for each character and ten of early Marvel comic book covers featuring each of the ten characters. Celebrated on these stamps are: Captain America, The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Spider- Woman, The Incredible Hulk, Electra, The Silver Surfer, The X-Men, The Sub-Mariner, and The Iron Man. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover , an envelope with two stamps for The Fantastic Four (drawn by artists Jack Kirby & Joe Sinnott) .... (the character stamp featuring The Thing and the stamp for the Fantastic Four No. 3 (March 1962, by Kirby and Sol Brodsky), cancelled from the city of issue (San Diego, CA to coincide with Comic Con International , a convention and exhibition held July 26-29.... the largest comic book convention held each year in the U.S.), on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created for the cancellation of these stamps on their 'birthday'....Marvel Comics own Spider-Man drawn by one of the industry's best-known artists - John Romita .
