A really fantastic Art Deco rectangular sandwich plate and 6 plates. These are in superb condition and really quite eye catching. Produced around 1910/20 from the Meakin factory, Stoke on Trent. White fine porcelain background with elaborate hand painting. Beautifully decorated with a vivid cobalt blue border, clusters and swags of pretty little flowers in peachy shades and plenty of gilding. The sandwich plate has two handles at each end and pretty scroll work and gilding. Sandwich plate measures 21.5cms in length and the plates are 15cms diameter. Condition is excellent, no chips or cracks or crazing. Glaze and colours are amazingly bright and fresh for the age. Back stamped with the Meakin name, factory crown and made in England. Ideal for a small garden tea party. I discovered this lovely set at a large country Estate sale recently and just couldn't resist it!
