This week we are offering some exceptional photographs from an important Canadian collection. Most of the photos being listed this week are from around the time of the D-Day invasion. The collection was acquired from the Toronto, Ontario estate of RCAF Flight Lieutenant Norman Smith, who was head of the photographic section of the 110th Canadian Squadron. Smith was awarded the MBE for his contributions to the war effort. The 110th had the distinction of being the very first Royal Canadian Air Force contingent to set foot on British soil in WWII, and as head of photography for the group, Flight Lieutenant Smith amassed a fantastic collection of images during his time overseas, including many from the time leading up to and after D-Day. These photographs are all guaranteed to be original period images, NOT modern re-prints.This particular lot from his collection includes TEN photographs taken shortly after the invasion. These are ;arger than most of the other invasion-related photos we have on eBay and, like the others, are very crisp images with great detail. Average photo size is in this lot is 4" x 5.25". Most of them were developed on official Air Ministry photo paper which is proofed on the back. These fantastic images speak for themselves! Be sure to see our other D-Day photos from the same lot!WE ACCEPT PAYPAL AND NEARLY ALL read more
