This collection contains the first day covers of 20 stamps that celebrated "Four Centuries of American Art," issued by the US Postal Service in Santa Clara, California on August 27, 1998. Some of the most famous American paintings, such as Wood's "American Gothic" and Hopper's "Nighthawks" are depicted here, and the styles of the 20 paintings in this set vary from portraiture to landscapes to abstract modernism.These 20 covers, all unaddressed, were created by Mystic Stamp Company in their usual colorful and attractive style.
