FDR 1st Lady Eleanor Roosevelt signed 1958 UN FDC-NICE! is a Dec. 10, 1958 United Nations Postal First Day Cover honoring the 10th anniversary of the UN's Human Rights day that has been neatly signed / hand autographed by legendary FDR wife & first lady Eleanor Roosevelt (Died in 1962)-The signature is very large and quite boldly signed in fountain pen right under the photo of her as UN Rep. Postage on this item will be $ 3.00 added to final bid price- 's a bio of Mrs. Roosevelt: Anna Eleanor Roosevelt ( October 11 , 1884 - November 7 , 1962 ) was an American political leader who used her stature as First Lady of the United States , 1933 -1945 to promote her husband's ( Franklin D. Roosevelt 's) New Deal , as well as Civil Rights . After his death she built a career as an author-speaker, a New Deal Coalition advocate and spokesperson for human rights . She was a First-wave feminist (though she opposed the Equal Rights Amendment ) and was an activist role model as First Lady. Eleanor was a leader in forming the United Nations , the United Nations Association and Freedom House . She chaired the committee that drafted and approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .
