This auction is for one only Fender SR Series Twin Reverb Amplifier . It was part of my Vintage Fender Collection. I was the 1960’s design engineer for this Fender Series and many other Fender Tube and Solid State amplifiers. It has seen some use professional but in very good condition for its age, with a few minor scuffs. It has been restored & tested by me and works great. This is a very full sounding, warm, clean amp with a strong reverb and tremelo. It was designed for Jazz, Blues, Country etc. and makes a great keyboard, harp, violin or acoustic guitar amp. It stays very clean up to full volume, and requires an external distortion device for rock or overdrive. These amps are very rare and should be good collector items. I was hired by Leo Fender Personally in Feb 1961 to work on conversion from the Fender Tweed Chrome Series to the Fender Brown Face Series and in 1963 from the Brown Face Series to the Black Face Series. In 1964 I was asked by Leo and Forest White to become part of the newly established Fender Research and Development Dept. Paul Spranger design engineer of the Navy Sparrow Missile was hired out of the Aerospace Industry to Head Fender R&D. Because of my Knowledge of both Tube amplifier design and Solid State Technology I was assigned Project Design Engineer of the new State of the Art Fender SS Series Amplifier Line. The Fender SS series were actually designed to be high quality with strong Reverb, and Tremolo effects. This series is however very Clean low distortion amplifiers. They were very well liked by Acoustic guitarist, Harp players, Keyboard players, Country Style players, etc. The Bass amp is still considered a great clean full sounding amp rig. The market at the time however was heavily slanted to the new British Overdrive sound and the line never really took off. Today t are many nice distortion pedals and they work well with these amps to cover their lack of any distortion. See my history below I put many vintage items in storage some 25 plus years ago with all my other amplifier components when I closed down Risson Amplifiers and went into the Computer Consulting business. I got so involved with computers over the years, that I forgot I had so many historical amplifier items. I am now again, building amplifiers and found this and some other items I will also be selling. Note: See my other auctions. My History Info: I was personally hired by Leo in 1961. Initially, from 1961- 1963, I worked in the amplifier quality control and test department at Fender w I personally inspected & passed many blackface Fender amplifiers. In 1964 Forest White asked me to join Fender’s newly formed Research & Development Division. I had been involved in design changes, and Fender was looking for experienced tube design engineers who also understood solid-state circuitry. I worked for Fender as an amplifier design engineer until 1967. I was approached by Francis Hall to become Director of R & D at Rickenbacker w I had complete control to design the Transonic Amplifier Line used by such notable artists as Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, etc. In 1970, I left Rickenbacker and started the Risson Amplifier Company w I designed both vacuum tube and solid state amplifier lines.
