A very beautiful rare antique Fenton compote in the Rose Spray pattern in the color French Opalescence. This pattern was made by Fenton between 1910 and 1914. Excellent condition, couple of small defects such as bubbles in glass, a small place on base, and stretch marks, but believed to be manufacturing defects. Wonderful stretch glass pattern. Measures 4 1/2 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches top diameter, and 2 3/8 inches diameter base. Weighs right under a half pound before packaging, quite hefty for something so small. We have been collecting glass for a long time, and have acquired a total of 5 of these great pieces in that time. This is #2 of the 5, and there is only one left after this one. If you are interested in more than one, please contact us. There is very little information out there on this pattern in this color, but we finally found reference to it in a book entitled Opalescent Glass 1880-1930. Here is a quote from that book:"Rose SprayAlthough found mostly in carnival glass, this Fenton compote can be seen on rareoccasions on opalescent glass. Colors are white (French), blue, and amethyst, andall are scarce. Production dates from 1910 to 1914. The design of a stem, leaves, anda rose is little more than a line drawing and is very hard to see."We have tried to capture the yellowish coloring of the glass, the opalescent coloring, read more
