Fiesta Red was first produced in 1936. Its uranium oxide glaze was always more expensive than the glazes used on the other colored pieces therefore it was always more expensive than the other Fiesta pieces. Fiesta Red was retired in 1944 when the government took over control of America's uranium for the development of the atom bomb and confiscated all of Homer Laughlin's uranium stores. This bulb shaped candle holder is a vibrant shade of orange with a large amount of shine. There is a tiny mill flaw on the outside of the bulb. This cheerful, vintage candle holder has only seen service during hurricanes for the last thirty years. Condition: Very good condition. There are no chips, no cracks, and no hairlines. Note: All Fiesta ware offered here is old. Though it may need further cleaning, it has been lightly cleaned before listing to locate any damage. Unless otherwise stated, the items are old and most will show, in varying degrees, signs of their age. If you are new to collecting old Fiesta, you need to become familiar with the genuine articles by web sites and books that are available through most libraries. Fiesta is still in production today and it is possible to buy new Fiesta thinking it is old, but Fiesta Red with its uranium oxide glaze is no longer being produced.
