Fine 1789 English Sterling Baleen Handle Ladle Presented is an antique English sterling silver tody or punch ladle from the late 1700s. The small bowl is ruffled along the rim and t is a nice spout on the side for pouring. The long, whale baleen handle has a great twist pattern in the center. This is a classic, fine quality piece. The bowl is marked with the crowned leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter O for the year 1789 and a worn maker's mark. This old piece is in great condition. T has been a patch solder repair to one side of the bowl and a couple of other minor solder repairs around the outside edge of the bowl, but these are only noticeable upon close inspection. T are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no cracks to the baleen and no other repairs. The ladle measures 14 1/2 inches long.
