Presented for the dog fancier is this fine quality antique porcelain figurine depicting an all white greyhound or whippet dog prancing about as he plays with his golden ball! Standing 4 1/4" tall and 5 3/4" long, he is unmarked but probably of German manufacture. He is decidedly a male dog with artfully modeled details including definition to his rib cage and musculature. His under belly is unglazed bisque. Posed freely without a base, the fluid lines of his sculpting emphasize motion and grace. It's a wonder that his long delicate limbs have survived without breakage, and yet the very tip of his tail is, unfortunately chipped off (pictured). Other condition issues to note is the loss of paint to the gilt decorated ball. It should also be noted that when displayed on a flat surface his left foot is just slightly above the ground rather than resting flat on it, visible in the last picture. (This may be intentional, of course. I don't know.) The picture that shows his left side shows some tiny black spots, which I thought was peppering in the bisque, but it is not. I cleaned it off after his photo session! A beautiful dog figurine, gracefully modeled, with amber eyes that just speak to you! Please see my other listings for more antiques and dog related items. I'm happy to combine shipping!
