The top is kidney shaped and has an exquisite pierced brass gallery. It has a trestle shaped base. The top is made of a beautiful colorful inlaid marble top. It has a lower shelf that has a lip which helps to hold in anything resting on the shelf. The brass gallery goes 3/4s of the way around the top, being open at the back ... making us think the original intent for this table was as a sort of tray table. What a fantastic table this make to use as a tray table -- it's lightweight so it moves easily and just the right size for a single place setting! It would also make an exceptional end table or an excellent occasional table in the boudoir or bath. It's slim silhouette would also enable it to fit nicely in a hallway. Please note that this table has a mate -- we have a second table that's nearly identical but is slightly smaller and has no lower shelf. These would make an excellent pair or set. Please see our other auctions for this other table. Age (ca) c1920s Dimensions 20" wide X 12 " deep X 26" High Condition Good original condition. The wood is in good shape as is the marble and t is no damage on the brass gallery. Sturdy. The wood and the brass have beautiful, rich patinas. Provenance This item is from a lovely old sprawling waterfront Victorian home on Long Island's north shore.
