Very Very Rare, First Model Verner MKIV Prismatic Compass. and looks to be a One Off, Card. This Brass Compass is Dated on the Rear 1903, London. it has the WD mark (Crows Foot) that shows it was used by the Army it also has the number 991. I sent photographs off to a specialist compass collector, and I have pasted his reply. (I am willing to name the collectors website if you send me a message) The Compass is in lovely worn condition with clean unscratched glass, and dont forget it is a 109 yrs old. it would grace any collectors display unit. It's a Verner's Pattern Mk IV, the first prismatic model of the Verner's Pattern compass. Although dated 1903, the compass was modified after 1906 with luminous dial markers, hand painted . The nature of the Radium markings suggests it was a one off – not a layout I have seen before .
