Original full sized First World War medals and memorial plaque awarded to Private George Henry Thurlby who served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion The Lincolnshire Regiment.Birth Place: Helpringham, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.He was Killed In Action on the 11th November 1914 during the Battle of Nonne Bosschen having only disembarked 16 days earlier on the 26 October 1914.He is remembered with honour on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial.1914 (Mons) Star named in impressed capitals to:8391 PTE. G. H. THURLBY. 1/LINC:R.British War and Victory Medal named in impressed capitals to:8391 PTE. G. H. THURLBY. LINC.
