The carving is signed by theartist "ARIAS" on the girl's buttock.It is depicting a Mexican peasant girl taking a nap, after hard work inthe field picking watermelons. She is poor, barefoot, wearing only anapron to cover her front.This sculpture is large and heavy, it is carved from one piece of solidwood.
