However, with even basic Rico sax reeds selling at around £18 for a box of 10 (and £ 23 for Vandorens!) I started looking round for some better value alternatives . I have been selling another Chinese brand, Riyin, for around a year and have found them to be perfectly acceptable, especially for less experienced players. They are great value at £6.95 for 10, and are pretty decent reeds although the quality consistency could sometimes be a little better. The feedback has been really good though, and they are still selling very well. I wanted to find some higher quality reeds and have managed to get a small supply of Flying Goose reeds - these are manufactured by the Flying Goose Company in Shanghai, which has been established since 1968. They have a good reputation for their manufacturing standards and quality control, and make reeds for a range of instruments at 3 quality levels (budget, standard and superior).
