we offer this Brass Antique Vintage Clam loader? I think it is some sort of a clam loader, like in mining, when you are sinking a shaft you muck the ore rock with a clam. Says Foerst Mechanical Specialties Co. 2407 N Ave. St. Louis Chicago ILL. Material is Brass and rope. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED from fellow ebayers with more information about this item. But when you pull up on the chains , the bottom flaps open and release what ever is supposed to be inside. Looks like the side chain were to attach to the small side arms, not sure how this was done. You fill the item by lifting the top flaps. T is what appears to be a brass weight attachment that goes onto the rope, guess it is for raising or lowering the item, possibly in a mine shaft?. Will let you experts decide what this item is and what its use is. Condition is good. I have shown 12 pictures, so you can figure out what this item is and what it is used for.
