Published by Harper & Brothers, NY 1909 2 volumes in one. 8vo (5.5 x 8") 307 pages. and 250 pages Original green gilt decorated cloth. Contains 50+ full-page and about 150 text illustrations and a large folding map in rear of book. Map in near fine condition. Book condition: Clean, solid hardcover in good reading condition. Darkening to cloth spine area with wear/tear to head and foot of spine and a tear along spine rear edge. Front hinge weakened (showing at title page - see image). Internally pages are clean with bright text and with all plates and foldout rear map in near fine to near-fine condition. Fascinating first hand account of this journey in Tibet in the late 19 th century with a large number of illustrations. Originally published in two separate volumes in 1898, this is the 1909 Harper issue - both volumes in one book. A good reading copy - covers a bit worn but binding is tight and all the text and images are bright. *********************** Be sure to check our other listings.
