Up for auction is an unusual, very cool 3-piece 1963 ad package promoting a Limited Edition Ford Thunderbird, sent from Monaco!The package consists of an envelope, with 2 postmarked Monaco stamps, an 8-page booklet (6 x 9 inches per page) and a one-page letter, all touting the 1963 Thunderbird Limited Edition Landau."Here in Monaco this week, the newest model of a classic American car is creating great excitement," stated the form letter from F. E. Zimmerman Jr., Ford's car marketing manager."As becomes the special character of the new Thunderbird, each Limited Edition Landau will be numbered," wrote Zimmerman, "and that number will appear in an identifying plaque on the car's instrument panel."The booklet called the LE Thunderbird Landau "a special car for special people." It was "high fashion style in an automobile" a car "with breathtaking chic."The booklet stated, "You may place an order for this special car through your Ford Dealer."Zimmerman wrote, "A car connoisseur in Europe ... must pay far, far more to enjoy a Thunderbird than you would at home. Because of duty, shipping, import licenses and the like, the cost is upwards of $11,000 ... more than double the price back in the States."Thus, Thunderbird overseas is in the same price class as a Rolls-Royce in England ... or a Ferrari in Italy."Yet, for those who can afford it,
