Viking Seax Saxon Scramasax10.5" Overall, 5" Blade, 4" Handle + 1" Pommel Ring, Hardwood HandleBlackened Forged Finish, Leather Sheath, 2.5" Belt LoopSolid, Sharp!•••Modern recreation of Viking seax but with rugged handmade look. Forged from a single thick piece of high carbon steel with hammered finish and lower half of blade ground to a sharp edge. True full tang with pinned hardwood handle.he Scramasax, also referred to as scramaseax or scramsax (literally meaning 'wounding-knife'), sax or seax, was carried by the Saxons and the Vikings between the 4th and 10th centuries, came in a wide range of sizes and was used both as a tool and a weapon. It was utilized as both a close-quarters weapon, a tool, and utensil. It would provide both slashing and thrusting power in battle while handling heavy-duty chores around the home and camp.Comments : Very nice. We only ordered one initially to get some idea of the quality. If this had a sheath for horizontal carry like some of the other seax I carry I'd give it 5 stars.I'm a collector and re-enactor, active in local groups and Renaissance Fair.
