The front page has war-related reports with heads & subheads: "The War News" "The Valley of Virginia--An Affair With The Enemy" "The Confederate States Prison Post" "Departure of Prisoners for City Point" "The Prisoners of War..." "The Louisiana Zouave Battalion..." and a bit more (see for portions). Perhaps the best & most historic report is on page 2, an early announcement of the victory at Fort Pillow with: "Splendid Victory--Capture of Fort Pillow--The Whole Garrison Annihilated--Complete Success" with the text including: "Forrest attacked this place...The garrison consisted of 200 white and 400 negro troops. the fort refusing to surrender was carried by storm...The fort ran with blood.
