You are bidding on a magnificent fossil trilobite, Hollardops mesocristata , from Morocco. Hollardop s lived during the Devonian on a prehistoric ocean floor, which is now part of the Atlas mountains of Morocco.The fossil measures 1.85 inches long and 1.3 inches wide (genal spine to genal spine). The entire specimen (trilobite and matrix) measures 4.1 inches long, 3.0 inches wide and 1.7 inches high. Extremely well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes. The trilobite comes from Mrakib Taouz, Morocco.A repair has been made through the tip of the right genal spine and exits on the right side of thorax near the pygidium. In the trilobite collecting- world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable.
