Illumuninated pages of a 18th Century Arabic Ottoman Koran with gold illumination,written in a very fine Nasih script,15 lines per page on "Durable" paper, 173 x 240 mm.Durable paper is handmade Laid paper treated with egg white and starch to give a polished and uniform writing surface.Sura endings illuminated in gold dots and a beautiful floral device are show on the Gallery photo.T is some cracking and paper loss around the gold page frames because of the age.These pages were written by a mastercraftsman caligrapher and are an art object in their own right.
