Below are the details of these four lovely books. If you would like more information or photos then please contact me. The First Ladybird Book of British Birds and Their Nests Third Edition 1954 There is a number (29) written on the front cover of the book just below the bird’s beak. The cover is, however, intact and is unclipped with a price of 2/6 net. “Third Edition 1954” is stated on the reverse of the first leaf. Written in pencil on the title page is: “underlined when I have seen a bird of this species”. Many of the titles are then underlined very neatly in pen and ruler. A few also have an underlining in pencil in addition. Otherwise this is a good sound solidly bound copy of this book. A Second Book of British Birds and their nests. Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald 1954 A Ladybird Senior. Series 536. With colour illustrations by Allen W. Seaby. Published by Wills & Hepworth Ltd., Loughborough. On the reverse of the front endpaper it states First Published 1954. The rear inner flap only has 2 titles. The title text on the dust wrapper is white. The catalogue page at the rear of the book shows 'The Impatient Horse' from series 538 as the last title listed in English (there are four French 'Wonk' titles listed at the very foot of the catalogue page). So this seems to fit the First Edition criteria but I’m not totally sure. The dust read more
