This is a wonderful lithographic print of an original watercolour by Stehli Freres of Zurich from the nineteen thirties. It's subject is the Matterhorn with cottages in the foreground. The signature in the bottom right hand corner is A Marc a pseudonym of Serbian artist Nicolas Markovitch (1894-1964) watercolorist and architect. A Marc is just one of several of his pseudonyms and he painted many seascapes, landscapes, buildings etc including New York. It comes in very good condition under glass in it's original gilt chalk frame which although shows a few signs of age endears it to me. The printers were noted for their high quality paper and print which can even fool experts into believing they are originals. The print measures 30cm wide by 37.5 long. Framed 32cm wide by 40cm tall. A great thing for a thirties or art deco styled home and not one to miss!
