Antique World Map Professionally Framed Absolutely Breathtaking Detail and Color Holographic Foil Artwork This piece is completely captioned in a foreign language. The title reads, "NOVA TOTIVS TERRARVM ORBIS GEOGRAPHICA AC HYDROGRAFHICA TABVLA". It is similar to the Dutch Piscator pieces, but I cannot be sure of its origin. If you have any further information, please contact me and I will add it to this description, thanks. Among the many great Dutch map publishers active in the seventeenth century were the Visscher family, begun by Claes Jansz Visscher (1587-1652) and continued by his son Nicolaas (Piscator jun. 1649-1709).....Although mainly art dealers, the Visschers were prolific publishers, producing individual maps and atlases made up to their customers specifications. They ar commonly regarded as second only to the Blacus among Dutch mapmakers for the high quality of engraving and decoration and the geographical accuracy of their maps. Their world maps are particularly outstanding not poly as maps but as works of art. This piece of art comes fully framed in a matt, gold lined wood frame, protected by a clear acrylic sheet and ready to hang. The overall size, including frame, is 23" wide x 19" tall.
