This baseball was used in a game on June 11,1959 by the Victoria Rosebuds and then signed by the team. I don't know if the Rosebuds won or even who the opposing team was. Here's the story as I know it, as told to me by my mother. I was born in Victoria,Tx. and my first birthday was about a month after this game. My parents attended this game and took me with them. My father was friends with someone on the team( I think it was the manager Pete Reiser) and the signed ball was my first Birthday present. My mother caught me doing this and put the ball away after explaining that it was a "special ball". This accounts for the scuffing after it was signed. Second, I'm not, and never have been, much of a baseball fan, so the players names mean nothing to me. As I understand it, Frank Howard and Pete Reiser are notable and their signatures are clearly visible on the ball. Other names, that I can make out and found on , are as follows: Scott Breeden, James Harwell, Ford Young, Don Miles, Hoyt Benedict, Larry Burright, Charley Smith, Wayne Schaper, Ed Strichek, Butch McCord, Dick Scott. It's obviously an old ball, 50+ years, read more
