This is an original signed pen and ink drawing by the British artist and illustrator Frank Patterson, who is best known for his pen and ink drawings of aspects of the British countryside in the first half of the 1900s.� Patterson illustrated prolifically for a number of travel and touring publications including cycling and motoring magazines. This illustration is for the motoring magazine 'The Motor' (https:///wiki/The_Motor). The illustration is of the famous landmark known as The Judge's Seat (or Judge's Chair) in Dunnabridge Pound, Dartmoor, UK (http://www./dunna_bridge.htm). The illustration has the title 'The Judge's Seat Dunnabridge Pound Dartmoor'� at the bottom and is signed, but not dated, in the bottom right corner. On the reverse is a time stamp showing 10 June 1933 and there is also some editorial numbering. Also attached is an actual original magazine page, dated July 4 1933, which shows how the illustration appeared in the magazine (see photograph). The dimensions of the actual illustration are approx 23 x 16 cm. The illustration is in good condition.
