GREAT SET FOR YOUR COLLECTION. 60 STERLING COINS. � This is a very rare complete set of 60 Genius of Michelangelo solid sterling silver coins or medallions struck in brilliant proof cameo by the Franklin Mint in 1970 in original album. The details are just amazing. This was one of the early sets by John Pinches. In 1969 the John Pinches firm was acquired by the Franklin Mint and this gorgeous set was produced. Each medallion features a piece of art by Michelangelo and each medallion is a miniature masterpiece of the engraver's art in translating the original into a beautiful medallion. For five decades The Franklin Mint produced and marketed collectibles. Their product line began with manufacturing and marketing of very limited privately-minted gold and silver commemorative rounds and medallions. These coins truly represent the United States Mint engraving & printing quality as partners and employees included Gilroy Roberts, 9th chief engraver of the U.S. Mint, Elizabeth Jones, 11th chief engraver & many other talented people who knew how to properly mint proof coins.
