(If you Then you can really inspect this car.) MY, HOW THE MARKET HAS CHANGED . . . I paid $170 (!!) for this car in 2000. FRANKLIN MINT 1953 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE I've had fun putting my collection on the auction. Sometimes I discover things that I have forgotten (no doubt on purpose). When I pulled the paperwork for this car I saw a copy of the original Ebay auction and almost passed out. The bidding started at $49.99. I was the 12th bidder and won the car - for 170 bucks! The die cast car market was HOT back then. At that time there was a shortage of this particular model and we all wanted one. (If you are complaining about the high price of die cast cars today, this will give you a wake-up call, LOL). The original selling price was $120.00 Okay, on with the auction . . . What sold this car? It doesn't have any of the modern bling we have come to expect. There are no whiz-bang operating features - it's just a great model that the Franklin Mint got right and Franklin offered it with a removable convertible top, which was very unusual for that time and there also was this . . . It had amazingly detailed Kelsey Hayes wire wheels and a beautiful wrap-around windshield. Those items knocked our sox off. The scaling is perfect as is the stance.
