THE FRANKLIN MINT TREASURY OF CAROUSEL ART The CAROUSEL SEAHORSE 94 Points A benefit for Fuzzy Sleeps All Day Ferret Shelter. In 1990, The Franklin Mint created a set of one dozen beautifully hand-painted porcelain replicas of some of the most prized EARLY 20TH CENTURY CAROUSEL ANIMALS then preserved in Private American Collections. For your perusal we have THE CAROUSEL SEAHORSE, carved by The Dentzel Company circa 1885. The Seahorse is an authentic replica of "Brandy" a rare carousel Seahorse housed in the private collection at The International Museum of Carousel Art. THE CAROUSEL SEAHORSE is suspended on a spindled brass bar which mounts to an oval base of Cherrywood with a felt underlining. It measures 6 3/8" at the top of the bar, 3 7/8" at the saddle. The CAROUSEL SEAHORSE is scarcest of the twenty-four Franklin Mint Carousels, as it was fired in an edition limited to just forty-five days. We have had only eight or nine of these in the store in over three years, but despite consistent price increases, we have yet to find a market price ceiling, as no TFM SEAHORSE has ever occupied shelf space in the store for more than one week.
