Franklin Mint Civil War Chess and Checkers set. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. The National Historical Society Civil War Chess Set AND checkers set by The Franklin Mint, 1983. Great condition, never used. Wooden edge of board has a few small dings, as does checkers box. This set is complete with all pieces and booklets. Includes certificate of Authenticity and all history booklets (note, it only says Checkers set on the papers). This chess set contains 32 Pewter portrait sculptures mounted atop solid Brass Pedestals with Grey and Blue enameled embellishments. The portrait sculptures have been authenticated by the National Historical Society. The pewter-finished playing area has a dark hardwood encasement. The top of chess board lifts up to reveal separate storage compartments for each of the thirty two chess pieces. The Chess Board Measures 12 3/4 ″ x 12 3/4". See below for chess piece list. Checkers set is a complement to the Franklin Mint Civil War Chess Set. They are meant to go together and are a perfect match. This set includes 12 Union Generals and 12 Confederate generals on coin like checker pieces. Each piece is minted in solid pewter, with a brass and enamel siding.
