Excellent condition French Mle 1866 Chassepot bayonet that is complete with matching numbered scabbard. Bayonet has St. Etienne Arsenal markings on the blade spine and dated March 1875. Blade has nice original bright finish and was never sharpened. Guard has original bright finish with a little gray and brown. Brass grip has attractive patina. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. Matching numbered steel scabbard has nice original blue metal finish showing very little wear and no dents. A nice late production Chassepot bayonet with matching numbers.
