FULL- SIZED LABELLEDVIOLIN WITH CASE. You are bidding for a most interesting full-sized violin with case. The violin has two labels inside. The first states that the violin was made by Thomas Murray, Ibrox, Glasgow in 1957. The second states that a new table was fitted by Turner of Inverness in May 1970. I have taken a number of pictures which attempt to show the condition of this instrument. Apart from two nicks on the upper surface to the rear left hand side and to the right of the tailpiece ( as shown in picture 3 ), there are no scratches or cracks to the lower or upper surfaces. The violin would benefit cosmetically from a coat of varnish because it appears to me to never have been varnished at all. The sound post is in position, it has four matching pegs and four string adjusters and the violin comes “ready to play”. The length of the nicely flamed one-pieced back is 14 ¼ inches and the total length of the violin is 23 ½ inches. The violin, which I have thoroughly enjoyed playing, has a most pleasing vibrant and strong tone throughout its full range and would be suitable for players of any standard. The case is in good condition internally but externally can best be described as a little scruffy. Nevertheless, the catches, lock and handle are all serviceable. There is no bow with this instrument. Should you have any questions read more
