Description : This another RARE piece from a wonderful Southeastern Michigan family estate! A vintage German BROT-MAX slicer! From a nice Internet site - You don't often see slicers like these in the U.S., but Germany, the land of thousands of bread varieties, has nearly as many types of bread slicers as they have bread. My friend used this one in her kitchen to store cookbooks for years, but after a recent remodeling and built-in shelves, she decided she'd be willing to part with it. I believe it has spent most of its life as a decorative item, rather than being used as a slicer. The large bolts can be tightened to keep the blade from going up and down, thus making it safe as an accent piece! If you were to use the slicer for its intended purpose, you simply place the loaf of bread in the wooden tray, raise the slicer arm like a guillotine, and WHACK! Sliced bread! The entire slicer measures 13 1/2 inches long by 9 1/4" inches high, with another 1 1/2 inches for the handle extension, 8" from screw to screw on the slicer and it's made of wood and cast iron, which makes it extremely heavy. The blade is tempered steel. Please check our pictures closely! We try to photograph well, so that you get the best possible description of the item! Shipping is by calculation - please see below!
