"Big and Beautiful"!!!... These are the only two words that I can think of to describe this large... stunning... Cameo Glass Lamp. This has to be one of the most "heart-stopping" pieces of art glass we've had to offer since???... I can't remember when!!!... I'm going to do my very best to describe for you this gorgeous LAMP ... and then rely on Patty's museum quality pictures to "tell the rest of the story"!!!... First off let's look at the size. It stands just about 14 and ½ inches tall... with the Shade on... and the Shade is just a bit over 11 and ½ inches across the "hand ground" bottom. The Lamp Base is 4 and ½ inches across the bottom... and this bottom area is once again... hand ground. The on-off switch is on the cord... which is about 65 inches long... and t are two light bulbs in it... one in the top and one inside the base. T are three small screws to "snug" the light fixture to the Base... and three more that secure the Shade to the metal fixture itself. Both the base and the Shade have a "Satin Glass"... or "Frosted Glass" finish... and I've looked this beauty over from "stem-to-stern"... and can find no blemishes anyw The Base itself stands about 8 and ½ inches tall... not counting the light fixture or the bulb. The multitude of color incorporated into the body glass of this Lamp makes it almost impossible to describe. The bottom of both the Base... and the Shade... starts off in a deep Chocolate Brown color... but this quickly changes into a profusion of dappled shades... far to numerous to expand upon!!!... Upon this stunning array of background colors "swims" a school of "Shark like Fish". I count more than 30 on the Base alone... and another 30 plus... on the Shade. Their placement on the surface of the glass makes them appear to be in a "feeding frenzy"!!!... The "Cannon Ball" style of the Base... and the perfectly round "Half Moon" shape of the Shade... are the perfect "stages" on which to "act-out" this "page of life" beneath the sea!!!... The Shade "mirrors" the Base in both glass colors... and the abundance of artistic decorations. on the Shade we find the stylized "Galle" mark. All of the many Fish are raised above the surface of the body glass... in a "Cameo" fashion... almost as if the background was carved away... leaving only this "flurry of activity"... swirling and silhouetted in that dappled under-sea profusion of colors. Bold in design... robust in stature... an absolute "rainbow" of glass colors... alive with the wonders of nature... unsurpassed workmanship... tantalizing to the touch... and a delight to the eyes!!!... what more could we ask for???... Just a delightful piece of art glass... and I might add... one with a very practical function.
