The Game Of Croquet: Its Laws And Regulations by Edmund Routledge Second Edition, 1870. Reflects the "new" laws of croquet as agreed to by the conference of croquet players at the Charing Cross Hotel, January 1870. Dark blue embossed cloth over light boards, sewn. The front cover is particularly handsome - the title, two crossed mallets, two clusters of four balls, and seven hoops form an emblem within a ruled frame. The title, set in rustic script within the hoops, and balls are gilt; the crossed mallets and hoops are in black. Includes engravings, diagrams and some interesting advertising. There is a particularly stunning engraving entitled 'Eglington Castle Croquet' along with a description and diagram of that game. 38 pages in all. A scarce book. This copy is in very good condition. The cover shows very light wear and the contents are clean and without inscription. The binding is secure. Free shipping to the UK.
