You are bidding on a Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) veterans membership badge / medal. This is a type III with the eagle with upturned wings. On the reverse, the lowest point of the star has a Patent date of Dec. 28, 1869. The ribbon is very worn where the medal is suspended, and close to ripping completely across. There are no other markings that I could find on this badge. Good luck bidding!
