Genuine US 1856 T3 1 Dollar Gold Coin NR This is a genuine, 1 dollar gold coin, minted in Philadelphia, PA, in 1856. It is the Type 3 variety. This coin is 90.0% gold and contained .0484 oz. AGW, when minted. It is 15 mm. in diameter and smaller than a dime. This coin has a hole at about the 6 o'clock position on the obverse. It is perfect to putting on a chain as a pendant, for a gift to a history buff. Because of the "challenges" affecting this coin, I will not attempt to assign a grade, but will leave it up to you to decide. In 1856, bloodshed continued between pro and anti-slavery factions in "Bleeding Kansas". The Vigilance Committee was formed in San Francisco. This is is an excellent chance to own a genuine artifact of early american history, at a modest cost. It would make a fine addition to a display, collection, or as a possible investment in gold. !
