Handcrafted Oven Glove Mitt an English Handmade product b y Frances Worters This lovely oven glove/mitt was handmade in the U.K by the wonderfully talented Frances Worters (other rare examples of her work ocassionally pop up on eBay, though rarely). It has been stored carefully, never used, in a drawer - it resurfaced recently, as I am down-sizing.measuring 10" by 6 ½ " (25.5cm x 15cm) it can be worn on either hand, though I think it would be much better served as a delightful kitchen ornament, dangling from a dresser! It is in its original packaging, as you can see from the photos (which were snapped on the day of listing). The text on the card-top describes the origin of design of the quaint little house that is depicted: "The latter part of the 19th century rows of these neatly kept villas with their red brick and Bath stone age became a feature of town suburbs. Whereas earlier cottage designs owe their appearance to the availability of local materials, this style of building was one of the first to be seen throughout the British Isles. Although more usually associated with hot countries, the term "villa" was coined by Victorian speculative builders as a desirable label for these urban dwellings builds primarily for the office workers of the day." Comes from a very clean, smoke and pet-free home. Please pay within 24 hours of winning read more
