Here we have a Very Rare 1911 Invitation to the Master of Kinloss inviting him to attend the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on 22nd June 1911. It comes fully framed and glazed in the original frame and is ready to hang . Measurements (approx.): 11” high x 13”wide and 12.5” high x 15” wide including the frame. Condition: I have seen a couple of other examples of this invitation and this is far and away the best one. The others have been badly foxed and discoloured where as this one has no signs of foxing and is discoloured less that I would expect. This came from a sale with a number of other items from Stowe House which was owned by Lady Kinloss from 1889-1921 . The frame although original seems to have new backing, this of course in no way affects the piece and is probably what has kept it in such good order. There are a number of small chips to the gesso on the frame but this is to be expected, I would be surprised if there weren't any! This would make a wonderful Christmas present for anyone interested in the Royal family or the history of our Great Land! Something like this should be in a museum and they come on the market so rarely that you need to act fast to secure this!
