GEORGE F. HEWETT WORCESTER MASS" Stoneware Jug Description "GEORGE F. HEWETT, 34 FOSTER STREET, WORCESTER MASS." Rare Stoneware Liquor Jug Up for auction is a lovely antique liquor jug with an incised stamp which reads, " GEORGE F. HEWETT, 34 FOSTER STREET, WORCESTER MASS." The size of this jug is approximately 12 inches tall and 7.5 inches diameter at the bottom. There is a one inch chip to the outer lip of the jug, as well as a second .25 inch smaller chip and a .125 inch nick. Additionally, there is a hairline crack on the mouth of the jar, above the stamp (please see final photos for condition issues). There are also two 3-4 inch scratches on the front which appear to be manufacturing flaws, as they are both glazed over. Other than these issues, the jug has no cracks or repairs. I have included in the image gallery a snapshot of a reference to George F. Hewett from the book, the History of the Military company of the Massachusetts, now called the Ancient and honorable artillery company of Massachusetts. 1637-1888. This information describes the life of George F. Hewett and his involvement in the liquor business. I am listing antique glass and stoneware on behalf of the original collector's family. I do my best to describe and photograph these items accurately, however, I am not an expert. Please email me with your questions read more
