An appealing pencil drawing of a rural idyll - A thatched half timbered cottage with two figures and a donkey [ judging by the size of its ears !] It is most expertly drawn, very crisp and fine. On the reverse of the image is another, of a jocular looking Georgian gent wearing what appears to be a leather apron - perhaps he is a farrier or an Inn Keeper. Both are indistinctly signed. It is affixed on one edge to a paper board. It measures 21 x 27 cms. I judge this pretty drawing to be of 18th century [rather than 19th] origin. It is not possible for me to suggest with any real certainty the hand that made the drawing, only to say that quite simply it is very good and expertly drawn. It will be sent very well packed insured and recorded. Please let me know if I can be of any help. The photos are the best I can manage [unless I get a better camera!] but the drawing is clear to view and is not faded. Once framed it should display very well.
